🚢 Freight Forwarding Process
This image illustrates the step-by-step journey of goods from a Shipper (the person or company sending the cargo) to the Consignee (the person or company receiving the cargo), managed by a Freight Forwarder.
📦 The Start: Getting the Cargo Ready
Shipper: The process begins with the shipper, who has goods ready to be sent overseas.
Proposal for Shipment: The shipper contacts a Freight Forwarder with a request to ship their cargo.
Cargo Pickup: The cargo is picked up from the Warehouse and loaded onto a truck.
Documentation: The freight forwarder prepares essential paperwork, including a Price Quotation, Export Declaration, and Bill of Lading (a detailed list of the goods being shipped).
🌍 The Middle: International Transport
Inland Transport (First Leg): The truck transports the cargo from the warehouse to the departure port.
Loading Cargo: At the Cargo Port Depot, the cargo is moved to be prepared for loading onto a ship.
Arranging Details: The freight forwarder plays a crucial role here, Arranging the Shipping Company and handling all Custom Clearance/Paperwork to meet international laws.
Loading Port: The cargo is loaded onto the large ocean vessel.
Shipping of Cargo: The ship sails across the ocean to the destination country.
⚓ The End: Receiving the Cargo
Discharge Port: The cargo ship arrives at the foreign port, and the goods are offloaded.
Inland Transport (Second Leg): The cargo is loaded onto a truck for transport within the destination country. This leg is often managed by the FF's Overseas Branch (Freight Forwarder's foreign office).
Release of Cargo to Consignee: After the final customs checks and paperwork (managed by the overseas branch), the cargo is released.
Consignee: Finally, the cargo reaches the consignee, and the entire freight forwarding process is complete.
In short, the Freight Forwarder acts as the main organizer, managing all the transportation, paperwork, customs clearances, and coordination between warehouses, trucks, ships, and ports to ensure the cargo moves smoothly and legally from one country to another.
